Revenue department employee, assistant arrested for taking bribe
Ballia: A revenue department employee and his assistant were arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for a land survey, police said on Wednesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Narayan Vais said that a team of Azamgarh unit of Anti-Corruption Organization on Tuesday caught accountant Navneet Kharwar and his associate Chunnu Kumar red-handed while taking bribe. The action came after a resident of Sultanpur complained that Khawar was demanding money for survey of his land. Revenue department to digitize land records on war footing Meanwhile, members of the Lekhpal Association, under the leadership of their district president Nirbhay Kumar Singh, approached the police and went on strike in protest against the arrest of Kharwar. SDP said that additional forces from Sahatwar, Maniyar, Bansdih Road, Sukhpura and other police stations reached the spot and ended the protest, the situation is under control.
