Rotten carcass of elephant found in Athagarh
Athagarh: A mutilated carcass of an elephant has been found in the forest of Athagarh block of Cuttack district of Odisha.
The mutilated carcass of the elephant found in Athagarh has been recovered from the cashew forest near Genapada Beat area in Sadupa Road of Athagarh forest division.
There is a suspicion that the elephant died 2 to 3 days ago. According to reliable reports, the forest department estimates that the dead elephant was only 5 years old.
The report said it was unclear how the pachyderm died. Questions are being raised as to how the elephant was found in Athagarh. Was it due to illness or did someone hunt him down?
The report said that there is dissatisfaction over the continuous deaths of elephants in the Athagarh forest division. Athagarh Forest Department has reached the spot and is investigating the matter. Efforts are being made to find out how the tusker died.
