Saina Nehwal did Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar (IANS). Badminton champion Saina Nehwal on Thursday thanked the Jammu and Kashmir government and the local people for helping her and her family successfully undertake the Amarnath Yatra.

“It’s a great day for me and my family. We are lucky to be on the trip. I want to thank the government and the people here for helping us so much,” Saina told the media.

She too felt blessed as she and her mother had ‘darshan’ inside the holy cave.

Before Saina, two American citizens from California had also made this year’s Amarnath Yatra. Both said that they are following in the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda who had made the journey.

Since its launch on July 1, more than 1.40 lakh pilgrims have traveled till now. The rush of passengers arriving here from different parts of the country continues unabated.
