Saloni Batra: Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Animal is poisonous
Animal has made it to the Rs 200 crore club and is slowly but surely taking over the box office. While many people are liking the film, some have criticized some of its scenes and Ranbir Kapoor’s character. In an interview, actress Saloni Batra, who plays his elder sister in the film, shared her opinion on the matter.
Saloni Batra was in an exclusive conversation with DNA, in which she shared her opinion about the character of Ranbir Kapoor, who plays her younger brother in Animal. He said that he is a facilitator and as an actor it is his job to facilitate what an artiste wants to bring out.
He further added, “They (producers) have a vision of this character in this world. This character, the way he talks and behaves, is toxic. But the story is about him and Sandeep sir has chosen to tell his story in his own way. As an audience, it is our responsibility to see and decide what is right and what is wrong,” he said, adding that if a character on TV is carrying a gun in college, it does not mean that it is right.
He further added that Ranbir’s character is not one that people should take inspiration from or learn a thing or two from. “It’s an artist’s approach to entertainment. In this world, the character is true but as I said, it is your responsibility as a viewer not to take it home. You came to the theater and were entertained. And this is the job of cinema. You don’t need to learn from it. You don’t need to take it back home and tell people that it’s OK to say things like that to women.”
