Scientists are searching for mahseer fish in the waters of Buka, Golden Island and their surrounding areas in the Bango Douban area. So that initiatives can be taken towards its conservation.

The presence of golden mahseer fish, which is called clear water lion, has been found in Hasdeo Bango Dooban area in the east. Mark Everard is doing survey work in the Douban area after discussing with the fishermen of Bango Douban area about the Golden Mahseer fish.
