Security Tightened at Puri Jagannath Temple After Bomb Threat on Social Media

Puri: A post went viral on social media on Tuesday, saying that the Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha will be blown up. In this backdrop, security was tightened in the temple area today. The police have detained a person based on the online post. The post appeared on Facebook on Tuesday. In addition to blowing up the temple, the post also warned that they would attack BJD Rajya Sabha MP Subhasish Khuntia. They said that they would also blow up a shopping complex.
However, a woman’s account was used for the social media post. Police believe that an unknown person created a fake user ID in her name and caused panic. Based on the complaint given by the woman, the police have arrested a person. A case has been registered at the Puri Cyber Police Station. A police officer said that security has been tightened around the Jagannath temple premises in the wake of the bomb threat.
MP Khunthiya said that she spoke to the Puri SP. The MP also said that she received a threatening call from an unknown person.
