Security tightened in border areas, police detained businessman for carrying Rs 10 lakh in Chhattisgarh

Nabarangpur: Due to implementation of code of conduct due to assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, security has been tightened in its border areas. To stop illegal cash flow in the state, Dhamtari Additional SP has issued instructions to strictly check vehicles on the border of Odisha. Police have detained a businessman from Odisha for carrying unaccounted cash in poll-bound Chhattisgarh.

In the light of the instructions, the police team under the leadership of SDPO was checking the vehicles at Borai border post. While checking a car coming from Raighar in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, the police team found Rs 10 lakh from its owner, identified as Subrata Mandal of Bhatasundhi village under Raighar police limits. He was driving the car.

Borai IIC Rajesh Jagat told the media that vehicle number CG 04 MS 1627 was going to Raipur. “During inspection of the car, police found 20 bundles of Rs 500 notes inside it. When asked about its source, Mandal could not give any satisfactory answer nor could produce any document showing the money being moved,” he said.

Sources said that after this the police seized the money and the car and took Mandal into custody for further questioning.
