Sharad Pawar will join the protest of onion farmers
Nashik: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar will join the farmers’ protest organized against the Centre’s ban on onion exports. Officials gave this information here on Monday.
Pawar, 83, along with several party leaders, will join the onion growers’ protest in Chandwad town in the afternoon, which is expected to be attended by thousands of local farmers as police have beefed up security at the venue.
For the past few months, farmers have been agitating against the ban on onion export imposed by the Center till March 31, 2024 to control onion prices in the local markets.
An NCP (SP) Pune leader said, “Pawar will participate in the protest this afternoon and may also address the farmers for some time. “It is aimed at drawing the attention of the Central Government towards the plight of farmers, who are now getting very low prices for their produce.”
