Sharmila arrested for assaulting policemen
Hyderabad (IANS) | YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila was arrested on Monday by the Hyderabad Police for allegedly assaulting the policemen on duty. Sharmila’s two drivers have also been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On the complaint of a sub-inspector of police, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. A case was registered against Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister at the Banjara Hills police station. Sharmila will be produced before a magistrate later.
On the complaint of the sub-inspector, the police booked Sharmila and her drivers under IPC sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily deterring public servant from his duty) A case has been registered under IPC sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 427 (mischief causing hurt).
Another case was registered under IPC section 337 (causing hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others).
Deputy Commissioner of Police Joel Davis said police went to Sharmila’s house after she was informed about the visit of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak office. Since Sharmila was not allowed to go to the SIT office, the policemen were trying to pacify her, but she assaulted the policemen.
The driver of Sharmila’s car also did not stop on police orders and hit them, injuring Constable Giribabu. Sharmila allegedly assaulted two sub-inspectors and a woman constable. One SI had to go to the hospital for treatment.
The YSRTP leader was taken to the Jubilee Hills police station. Later, when his mother Y.S. When Vijayamma went to the police station to meet him, the police stopped her, after which they had an argument. In a video, Vijayamma is shown slapping a woman police constable.
The police forcibly sent Vijayamma back to her home. They allege that the police is doing arbitrary. She wanted to know how long Sharmila would be kept under house arrest. Sharmila’s husband Anil Kumar later went to the Jubilee Hills police station and met her.
