High Court issues notices to two IAS officers
The High Court has issued notices to former GHMC Commissioner K. Ilambarthi and current GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan. The court has issued notices to them as to why they have not provided information under the RTI Act despite the court’s orders. A person named Vaddam Shyam has once again filed a petition alleging that the authorities have ignored the orders given by the High Court on November 24 to provide the information he sought under the RTI Act.
Hearing this petition, High Court Judge Nagesh Bhimapaka expressed his anger at the IAS officers who were asked to explain why action should not be taken against them for contempt of court. The High Court warned them to file a counter-affidavit by January 26 explaining why they did not comply with the court’s orders, failing which their affidavits would be accepted and a fine of Rs. 10,000 would have to be imposed.
