Ship carrying 120 people catches fire in Philippines
Manila (IANS) | A ship carrying 120 people caught fire on the island of Bohol in the Philippines on Sunday. A Coast Guard ship was deployed to rescue those on board and douse the flames. Quoting media reports, Coast Guard officials have given this information.
Photos and video released by the Philippines Coast Guard showed flames and black smoke billowing from two decks on one end of the ship, while coast guard personnel on the other tried to extinguish the fire, reports CNN. Used water canon to do it.
The Coast Guard told CNN that all 120 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the ship. The fire has been doused and no casualties have been reported.
According to the Coast Guard, the ship was traveling between the Philippines islands of Siquijor and Bohol when the fire broke out.
