Shiv Sena leader said this after SC legalized the abrogation of Article 370 in JK

Nagpur: Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision on removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray said, ‘We welcome this decision because we have supported the removal of Article 370.’

Furthermore, Thackeray desired that PoK be acceded to India before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections so that elections could be held in entire Kashmir.

“We welcome this decision as we had supported the removal of Article 370. We hope that Jammu and Kashmir elections will be held as soon as possible. Before the elections, if PoK is included, this exercise can be done in entire Kashmir,” Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray said.

Earlier, on Monday, the top court had said that Article 370 was only a ‘temporary provision’ of the Constitution to facilitate the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India.
The landmark judgment effectively rejected the restoration of Article 370 in the erstwhile state.

A five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, unanimously upheld the validity of the central government’s 2019 decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. did. Reaffirming that Article 370 was a ‘temporary provision’.

Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international working president and senior advocate Alok Kumar also supported the apex court’s decision and said the historic verdict would go down as a tribute to the saffron thinker and founder of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh. , Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

Kumar said in a statement that with the special constitutional privileges for the erstwhile state under Article 370 now gone in history, the Center should now focus its attention on liberating Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The VHP leader said, “Now the only incomplete agenda in Jammu and Kashmir is to free Pakistan Occupied Kashmir from the clutches of Pakistan. We are confident that a strong India and a determined government will soon be able to liberate PoK.”

Affirming that Jammu and Kashmir has always been and will remain an integral part of India, Kumar said, “Today’s decision underlines that the Instrument of Accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1947-48 is final, valid and was irreversible. “Due to some political misunderstandings, the then political leadership had given special status to Jammu and Kashmir through Article 370.”

The VHP leader said he hoped that the ongoing development in Jammu and Kashmir would continue uninterrupted.
