Siddaramaiah said – BJP is disrupting the assembly proceedings to divert attention from internal strife.
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said BJP MLAs were protesting and disrupting assembly proceedings to divert people’s attention from his party’s internal conflicts.
In an official statement, Siddaramaiah also alleged that the BJP wanted to divert attention from the “failure of the central government” to provide drought relief to the state.
Siddaramaiah said, “It seems that they (BJP) are not concerned about the people of the state. “People are disappointed with political parties and leaders because of such irresponsible behavior of elected representatives.”
The statement came as BJP MLAs protested in the state assembly on Monday over Karnataka minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan’s alleged statement that Congress had made BJP MLAs bow down to Muslims by making UT Khadar the president.
“The main objective of holding the Legislative Assembly session once a year at Suvarna Soudha, Belagavi is to discuss the burning issues of the people of North Karnataka and find solutions to them. By not allowing such discussion, BJP MLAs are doing so.” Siddaramaiah said, “Traitors of the people of North Karnataka.”
The CM alleged that the Central Government has not yet responded to the state government’s request for central assistance for drought relief in the state.
He said that BJP leaders have fooled the people of Karnataka in the name of double engine. He said in the statement, unfortunately, the 25 Lok Sabha MPs of BJP who were elected have not opened their mouths yet.
Siddaramaiah said, “The discussion about drought in the Assembly will highlight the central government’s indifference towards Karnataka. BJP MLAs are scared of this and hence they do not want any discussion in the Assembly.”
He claimed that opposition leader R Ashok does not have the support of most of the BJP MLAs.
