Sikh accused of stabbing two people in UK
London (IANS). A 25-year-old Sikh man has been accused of stabbing two people to death during a community event in Southall, London. Police gave this information.
Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Belmont Road in Ilford, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court in the matter on Thursday.
Singh has been remanded in custody to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on September 14, 2023, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
On 15 August, officers were monitoring an Indian Independence Day event at The Broadway, Southall, when they were alerted to the incident.
Police reached the spot, found two people with knife injuries and admitted them to the hospital.
Police arrested two people from the spot, including Singh and another man in his 20s.
A female officer involved in taking one of the arrested men into custody suffered a minor hand injury.
“Apart from this incident, the event was largely peaceful,” said Sean Lynch, Superintendent of Police in Ealing.
Lynch also referred to a video of the incident circulating on social media and urged people to stop speculating.
Lynch said: “We are aware of footage circulating on social media, with people commenting on it. We would urge the public to refrain from speculating. Fortunately, none of the injured were seriously injured and no Death didn’t happen.”
Investigation is on in the matter.
