Importance of Pitrupaksha
It is said that the souls of three generations of ancestors reside in Pitrloka. Pitrlok is considered to be the place between heaven and earth. This region is ruled by Yama, the god of death, who takes the soul of a dying person from earth to Pitrloka. In such a situation, when you perform Shraddha Karma during Pitrupaksha, the ancestors get salvation and they go to heaven.
