Sirmaur ready for Christmas-New Year
Nahan. On the occasion of the beginning of New Year and Christmas weekend, the resorts of district Sirmaur are also ready to welcome tourists. Every year, tourists from outside states travel in large numbers to the resorts of the state for White Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In this context, the resorts of district Sirmaur also remain one of the favorite destinations for tourists from outside states. The tourism circuit starts from Gurdwara Paonta Sahib in the district and reaches Peach Valley Rajgarh and Sauth Valley Shillai. Whereas Shri Renukaji, Hill Station and Shaktipeeth Maa Bhangayani Temple, Haripurdhar and Churdhar remain in the first list of tourists.
On the occasion of Christmas Eve, the hotels, guest houses and homestays of the district have now started getting ready to welcome the tourists. At the same time, advance booking for tourists from outside states has started in Tourism Corporation Hotel Renukaji. Whereas among the private hotels of the district, the inflow of tourists is also increasing in the hotels of Grand Beau located in Jamta and Haripurdhar.
For the week end and New Year celebrations of the year, facilities like special bon fire, arrangement of special dishes and DJ etc. are being provided in the hotels, while paragliding has also developed in Haripurdhar. On the other hand, the tourism related businessmen of the district also hope to see snowfall on White Christmas and New Year.
On the other hand, if we look at the tourism figures in the district, last year there was an influx of about 13,83,705 tourists in Sirmaur district, whereas so far this year, 11,20,805 tourists have visited the resorts of the district. According to the Tourism Department in District Sirmaur, there are 140 registered hotels and guest houses, while 123 homestays are operated.
Apart from the natural beauty of Haripurdhar area in the district, the natural lake in Renukaji, boating and religious tourism are becoming a big attraction for tourists from outside states. However, tourists say that the biggest obstacle in Sirmaur tourism is the underdeveloped roads here.
If there is double lane and improvement in the condition of the road here, tourism in Sirmaur will increase four times. On the other hand, District Tourism Officer Sirmaur Kanchan Bedi said that last year more than 13 lakh tourists reached the district, whereas in the current year 11.20 lakh have reached before the weekend.
