Kapil Sharma explained why he ‘officially became the winner of Indian Idol’

Mumbai: Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma sang a song with renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal and celebrated the moment by declaring himself the “winner of Indian Idol.”

Kapil praised Shreya Ghoshal’s stellar performance, affectionately saying, “Indian Idol has been going on for years, but Shreya ji, your presence has brought a new radiance to it.”

The atmosphere became even more enchanting when Kapil and Shreya sang a mesmerizing duet of the evergreen classic song “Tum Aa Gaye Ho, Noor Aa Gaya Hai” from the 1975 film “Aandhi.” The film starred Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen and was directed by Gulzar.

Kapil revealed that singing with Shreya Ghoshal was a dream come true for him.

He admitted that this moment “truly made his day,” highlighting how special the duet was for him. Kapil also added a touch of humor, jokingly saying that after performing with Shreya, he has now “officially become the winner of Indian Idol.”

Speaking of “Aandhi,” at the time, there were allegations that the film was based on the relationship between then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her estranged husband, but in reality, only the look was inspired by politician Tarkeshwari Sinha and Indira Gandhi.

The story revolves around the unexpected reunion of an estranged couple many years later, when the wife, Aarti Devi, now a prominent politician, stays at a hotel run by her husband during an election campaign.

Kapil is currently promoting his film “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.” The film promises to bring back the same madness, with Kapil’s character now entangled in an even more colorful, multicultural wedding mess.

Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the film is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain, and Abbas-Mastan under Venus Worldwide Entertainment in association with Abbas Mastan Film Production. This family entertainer will be released in theaters on December 12, 2025. The trailer for Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 showcases a blend of drama, emotions, witty punchlines, chaos, beauty, glamour, and excellent comedy.

The film stars Kapil Sharma along with Manjot Singh, Tridha Choudhury, Hina Wariyah, Parul Gulati, and Ayesha Khan in lead roles. It also features Gashmeer Mahajani, Saurabh Goyal, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sarin, and Hardika Sharma
