Small traders compete with online companies, use social media
Vadodara: The increasing penetration of online companies among consumers is affecting the business of small shopkeepers. Under these circumstances, Vadodara merchants will be given training on how to counter online companies using social media. This kind of program is going to be organized for the first time in the city.
The Vadodara branch of CAT (Confederation of All India Traders), a nationwide organization of traders, will organize a training seminar for traders on 8th from 3 to 5 pm at Gandhinagar House in the city. We have 79 different trade associations registered with us in Vadodara and thousands of shopkeepers are involved in them, says Paresh Parikh, Vadodara president of CAT.
Barely five percent of these small business owners would have knowledge of social media. Through this training seminar we are going to train small businessmen on how to use social media to grow their business. Although such a campaign has been started in the entire country, but for the first time such training seminar is going to be held in Vadodara. The traders will also be informed about some success stories of small traders who have grown their business using social media. He says that if small businessmen want to stand against online companies then they will have to learn to use social media. CAT’s National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal is going to participate in the program to provide information to the traders. So far around 400 traders have registered for the training seminar.
