Tiruchendur: Labourer recovers devotee’s lost gold chain in sea

Tamil Nadu: Police Inspector Kanagarajan praised the shellfish artisans and the Coastal Security team for recovering a gold chain worth ₹4 lakh that a devotee had lost in the sea near Tiruchendur.
A couple from Salem district, Shri Manikandan and Sharmila, along with their family, had come to the Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple on February 19th to offer their children’s hair. While bathing in the sea, the gold chain, weighing approximately three and a half pounds, worn by Shri Manikandan fell off and disappeared into the sea. Despite extensive searching, they were unable to find it.
After informing the temple police and the Coastal Security team, they returned to their village. Subsequently, the Coastal Security team and shellfish miners, led by Shivaraja, launched a joint search operation in the sea.
At that time, a gold chain was found in the hands of Mano, a shellfish artisan. Following this, Manikandan was informed and summoned to Tiruchendur. The gold chain was handed over to Manikandan in the presence of Inspector Kanagarajan of the Tiruchendur Temple Police Station.
The police inspector garlanded and praised Mano, the shellfish worker who recovered the jewelry. He also praised the Coastal Security Team.
