Special on 18 December Guru Ghasidas birth anniversary

Enchanting Tapobhoomi Girodpuri
Giraudpuri village is situated in Baloda Bazar district, about 140 kilometers from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Guru Ghasidas Ji Guru Ghasidas, the founder of Satnami sect, was born here on 18 December 1756. Guru Ghasidas had performed penance under the Aunra Dhaunra tree growing on the hill of this village, located at a short distance from the confluence of Mahanadi and Jonk rivers. That is why it is famous by the name of Guru’s Tapobhoomi. Lakhs of white-clad Guru devotees come to the fair organized here from Falgun Shukla Panchami to Saptami.
Charan-Amrit-Panch Kund
Near Guru Baba’s penance place there is ‘Charan Kund’ filled with mountain water. After acquiring the knowledge of Satnam, Ghasidas ji had washed his feet in this pond. There is also a belief that near this place, Baba had revealed this ‘Amrit Kund’ with his miraculous power to quench the thirst of wild animals and save their lives. By drinking the water of this pond, one gets relief from various diseases and sufferings. At some distance from Tapobhoomi, there is a huge rock called ‘Chhata Pahar’. Baba had established Samadhi here. There are five ponds near it.
Religious place Safuramath Memorial
Safura Math is built in Giroudpuri in the name of Guru Ghasidas ji’s life partner. It is said that mother Safura, hurt by the loss of her elder son Amardas, had taken silent samadhi. Then, considering her dead, the villagers buried her in the absence of Baba. . Baba had given her new life. Safoora Math is built in the memory of this miraculous incident. Before reviving Safoora Mai, Baba had revived a dead calf of the cow. Even today, the Calf Jeevandan Memorial is built there.
World’s tallest grand Jaitakhambh
The people of the Satnam sect consider the white Jaitakhambh as a symbol of unwavering faith in the truth and the victory of the Satnam community. In Giroudpuri, Jaitakhamb (77 meters high) is built seven meters higher than Qutub Minar. Jait Khamb, built at a cost of more than Rs 52 crore, was inaugurated in the year 2015. To reach the roof of Jait Khamb, stairs have been built from two ends like the Jantar Mantar Bhawan of Jaipur. On the fascinating architecture of the world’s tallest Jait Khamb, The eyes freeze. The beauty of Jaitakhambh increases even more on the full moon night.
Motimpur Kaamar Island
Another major pilgrimage site of the people of Satnam community of Chhattisgarh is Amar Tapu of Mungeli district. It is situated in Motimpur village on Mungeli-Pandariya road. Amar Tapu is full of natural beauty on the banks of river named Agar originating from Bhurkund mountain. Baba Amardas, the elder son of Saint Shiromani Guru Ghasidas, who was doing penance in the island, had propagated the message of Satnam religion. It was in his name that it became famous as Amar Tapu. Mahaguru festival fair is held here every year on 18th December.
