New Delhi: India’s Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) to the United Nations Ambassador R. Ravindra gave a big statement on the war between Israel and Hamas. He said on Wednesday, “India is deeply concerned about the deteriorating security situation and large-scale loss of civilian lives in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Ravindra made this statement while representing India in the open debate on “Situation in the Middle East including Palestine” in the United Nations Security Council. He also openly supported Israel in this war and also expressed concern for the Palestinians. In the UN, India strongly condemned Hamas for the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.
A big statement came from India in the UN on Wednesday. Deputy representative R Ravindra said, “The terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7 were shocking and we unequivocally condemn them. Our Prime Minister was one of the first global leaders to express his condolences on the loss of lives and pray for the innocent victims and their families.”
He further said, “We stand in solidarity with Israel in their hour of crisis as they face these terrorist attacks…Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. “The issue of civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict is serious and a matter of continuing concern.” He said all parties must protect civilians, especially women and children.
R. Ravindra also highlighted India’s efforts to send humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and said it has sent 38 tonnes of food and critical medical equipment to the area. He said, “India has sent 38 tonnes of humanitarian goods, including medicines and equipment, to the people of Palestine. India has always negotiated a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue, leading to the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable state.
R Ravindra further said that Palestine is living within secure and recognized borders. Standing side by side peacefully with Israel, taking into account its legitimate security concerns… We continue to support the Palestinian people through our bilateral development partnership. It covers a wide range of sectors including health, education, women empowerment, entrepreneurship and information technology. In these challenging times, India will continue to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine. “Every effort should be made to create favorable conditions for the resumption of these negotiations.”
