CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday justified the bill passed by the state assembly to elevate the chief minister as chancellor of universities in the state and said only if the CM elected by the people is the chancellor, then people can get whatever What is needed can be done. ,
Speaking at the second convocation of the Tamil Nadu Dr J Jayalalitha University of Music and Fine Arts in the city, Stalin listed out the honors bestowed on eminent musicians and said, “Since I, a Chief Minister elected by the people, continue to be the Chancellor of the University Therefore, I am capable of taking such decisions reflecting the views of the people. Therefore, we argue that the Chief Minister should be the Chancellor of all universities.
Referring to the bill passed by the state assembly to this effect, the CM said, “I do not want to get into this. The Supreme Court is involved in this matter and is hearing related cases. You will get good news. Let us hope for good news.
“You may have read news reports about judges’ comments regarding upholding states’ rights. Education should be brought from concurrent to state list. Only then can the state achieve the goal of providing education to all. I am not saying this only for Tamil Nadu. I am speaking for all the states in the country,” the CM said.
Reiterating that education is the rightful property of the individual, Stalin said, “That education should be extended to all. This is the policy of the Dravidian model government.”
