Stand-up comedian Neel Nanda passes away
Los Angeles: Indian-origin stand-up comedian Neel Nanda, who appears on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ and appeared on ‘Comedy Central’s Adam Devine House Party’ Comedian Neel Nanda has died at the age of 32.
“I am very shocked and saddened by this,” Nanda’s manager Greg Weiss said in a statement to Deadline on December 24.
“He was a wonderful comedian, but an even better human being. He had the whole world in front of him.” The cause of death has not yet been shared publicly.
As soon as the news of Nanda’s demise broke, many fans, friends and fellow stars took to social media to pay tribute to him. “RIP Neil Nanda,” Matt Rife wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“You were one of the best, hardest working comedians I have ever called a friend and I hope you rest in peace brother.”
Fellow comedian Mario Adrian, who recently performed with Nanda, also wrote a heartbreaking message to his friend.
“I did a show with them in Canada last week and I’m so sad,” Adrian wrote on Instagram.
“We only met this year but in the short time I spent with him he brought a lot of light and positivity into my life.”
“Neil was a great comedian and always tried to lift up those around him – I’m grateful I had the chance to meet him,” he said. “Much love to his family and everyone who is mourning!”
Meanwhile, The Port Comedy Club, where Nanda previously performed, took to its Instagram page on December 23 to honor his legacy.
The club’s message began, “With a heavy heart we say goodbye to the great artist of comedy, Neel Nanda.”
“Absolutely shocked by this news. Such a positive force for comedy and a huge loss to our community.” “Rest in peace Neil,” his tribute ended.
“Thank you for gracing our stage and piano, a great headliner, gone too soon.” Dane Cook also shared a message on Nanda’s demise.
Cook wrote, “I did not know Neel Nanda personally but reading the many tributes has been heart-breaking and eye-opening.”
