Standing crops damaged in Kothagudem due to excessive rain

Kothagudem: Cyclone Michong has caused intense and heavy rainfall in various divisions of the district in the last 24 hours, causing flooding in low-lying areas, affecting normal life and causing damage to crops in Pai.

Extremely intense rainfall of 33.7 cm was recorded in Aswaraopet mandal from 8.30 am Tuesday to 8.30 am Wednesday. Maddukuru in Chandrugonda mandal recorded 30.8 cm rainfall. Similarly, many parts of Dammapet, Annapureddipalli, Palloncha and Kothagudem mandals received extremely intense rainfall ranging between 26 cm and 20.1 cm. During this period, very heavy rains occurred in 12 divisions, while heavy rains were recorded in nine divisions of the district.

In Bhimavaram of Ashwapuram mandal, 40 eggs died due to exposure to Alcenzadas ray. An additional 8,000 cusecs of water was released from the river below by lifting two bridges of the Kinnerasani project in Paloncha mandal. Excess water was also coming out from the Peddavagu project at Gummadavalli village in Aswaraopet mandal.

Rice fields were flooded due to a breach in the dam of the tank at Perantala in Dammapet mandal seat. The production of carbon in the skyward open mines was stopped by SCCL.

Colecionista Dr. Ask officials to prepare report on crop and property damage

District Collector Dr. Priyanka also inspected the rain-affected villages in Aswaraopet and Dammapet mandals. He ordered the concerned officials to prepare a report on the crops and houses damaged by the cyclone to compensate the affected persons.
Three houses in Ootalapalli village have been completely damaged due to rain. Electricity authorities should take immediate steps to restore power supply in villages where there has been power cut due to rain.

Dr. Dijo Ala said, Panchayat Raj and R&B officials will have to repair war damaged roads to restore transportation. Inspected damaged crops in Sudhapalli village and damaged roof of Parentla tank in Dammapet village.
Vehicular movement restricted

In a statement, Superintendent of Police Dr Vineet Ji said vehicular movement was restricted on various roads in Dammapet, Aswaraopet, Sujatha Nagar, Julurpad, Aswapuram and Mulakalapalli mandals due to rain water flowing on the roads. Precautionary measures will be taken, such as placing barricades on flooded roads to prevent people from crossing them. The SP said that people should cooperate with the police to avoid adverse incidents due to heavy rains.
