Raipur: Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today attended the sixth convocation of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Bilaspur. In the convocation, students were awarded degrees and gold medals for graduation, post-graduation, diploma, and letter degrees in the examinations of various academic sessions. On this occasion, Ram Pratap Singh and Surbha Desh Pandey were given the honorary degree of Vidya Vachaspati. In the ceremony, the Chancellor awarded degrees to PhD students and gave a message to protect the ethics and pride of this degree. The guests congratulated and wished the students who received the degree for a bright future.

He said that Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University was established on 21 March 2005. Pandit Sundarlal Sharma made his important contribution in bringing public awareness and social progress in Chhattisgarh. This university is playing an important role in shaping and realizing the dreams of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma ji. He congratulated and wished the university on being given A plus grade by NAAC for maintaining high education quality.
Governor Harichandan said that developed India is based on the concept of prosperous India. Through the concept of developed India, all the citizens of the region will be provided opportunities to develop according to their ability. He said that this university is also fulfilling the objective of its social concerns by providing education opportunities to the extremely backward communities living in the tribal area and the people affected by Covid-19.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai congratulated the students who received gold medals and degrees in the convocation ceremony and wished them for their bright future. Mr. Sai said, I am happy that this only open university of our Chhattisgarh state is touching new heights every day with its academic and educational activities. For such learners living in remote areas who have been deprived of higher education due to some reason or for such students of the working class who want to realize their future dreams, this university has become the main center for providing educational opportunities.
Chief Minister Sai said that I myself am from Jashpur, a remote area of the state, so I have seen the difficulties of the people of remote areas of our Chhattisgarh very closely. I can feel the difficulties of the people of our state living in remote areas. I am happy that the university is constantly striving to fulfill its goal in accordance with its motto “Higher education at your door”. He said, the basic objective of education is to help each other with the motto of Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah. With the implementation of the National Education Policy in our state, along with the promotion of logical ability in the youth, their all-round development will take place.
The Chief Minister said that Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University of Chhattisgarh has been included in the list of 235 universities of UGC, which can give joint or dual degree. Now this university can start a program for joint degree in collaboration with a foreign university, it is a matter of happiness that the students of our Chhattisgarh will be able to connect with a foreign university.
Praising the university family, the Chief Minister said that my suggestion is that the people of the world should be introduced to the language and culture of Chhattisgarh, in this direction, this university has started a course in Chhattisgarhi language, this is a commendable step. Along with study and teaching, it is also the responsibility of this university to keep making continuous efforts to enrich the language and culture of Chhattisgarh region. On the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shri Sai appealed to the people present at the ceremony to join the “One Tree in the Name of Mother Campaign” and said that all of you must plant a tree in the name of mother by looking at an accessible place around you and take care of it.
