Statue of Father of the Nation found in garbage in Gaurela District Panchayat, public outrage

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi. A photograph emerging from the Gaurela District Panchayat office has deeply hurt public sentiment. A statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was found lying amid garbage and debris, sparking widespread outrage among local residents. According to reports, repair and renovation work is currently underway at the conference hall of the Gaurela District Panchayat. During this period, the statue of Gandhiji, removed from the hall, was abandoned near a pile of garbage outside the premises instead of being placed in a safe place. This state of the statue has raised questions about administrative insensitivity.
Locals say that abandoning the statue of the great man who showed the nation the path of truth and non-violence in such a state is not only disrespectful but also an insult to the country’s history and values. Upon learning of the incident, anger mounted among the area’s enlightened citizens and social activists. People have called it a grave negligence and demanded immediate action against the culprits. A local resident said, “This is not just an insult to a statue, but an insult to the nation’s honor. Such an act is unacceptable under any circumstances.” Ironically, this incident has emerged amid campaigns being launched across the country to symbolize cleanliness and respect.
Contrary to the “Clean India” vision envisioned by Gandhiji, the fact that his statue was thrown near the garbage is considered extremely unfortunate. This incident has also raised questions about the administration’s functioning. People say that the administration is responsible for protecting objects of historical and national importance during repair work, but this case has been completely negligent. All eyes are now on what action the administration takes in this matter. Will those responsible be prosecuted or will this case, like other cases, be shelved? Currently, this incident has become a topic of discussion not only locally but also widely, and clearly indicates the need for greater sensitivity and responsibility towards national symbols.
