STF arrested 2 Naxalites
Kolkata. Kolkata Police on Sunday said its Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two Naxal cadres near the India-Bangladesh border in Murshidabad district. Both were arrested near National Highway 34 at Suti in Murshidabad district. The place of arrest is very close to the international border with Bangladesh.
Police sources said that the arrested persons have been identified as Mantu Mallik alias Rabi and Prateek Bhowmik alias Kanchan. Mallik is a resident of Sarsuna, Kolkata, while Bhowmik is a resident of Dhantala in Nadia district. A pistol, six bullets, a bike and Rs 40,000 in cash have been seized from them. Both Mallik and Bhowmik were quite active in Jangalmahal area and Maoist affected areas of Jharkhand. Police sources said that recently STF had arrested Naxalite leader Pradeep Mandal, who had given information about Mallik and Bhowmik during interrogation.
