Suresh Gopi apologizes for placing his hand on female journalist’s shoulder

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam superstar and BJP leader Suresh Gopi on Saturday apologized for placing his hand twice on the shoulder of a female journalist while talking to the media.

The politician said on social media that till date he has neither behaved inappropriately in public nor in private places.

Gopi, who is a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, said, “Now that the woman journalist has expressed her feelings, I completely accept it. If she has felt bad and been affected in any way, I apologize to her.” “

On Friday, Gopi had placed his hand on the media persons’ shoulder while talking to them.

Following the incident, journalist organizations protested against Gopi’s “inappropriate” behavior and demanded an apology.

The CPI(M) and its youth wing immediately condemned it, while veteran Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala said it is always better to avoid such situations and now that Gopi has apologised, the matter should end there.

But the female journalist can lodge her complaint against the actor.

Gopi will contest from Thrissur Lok Sabha seat for BJP. He had made an unsuccessful attempt in 2019 and stood third, but managed to get 2.93 lakh votes.
