Swiss citizen murder case: Gurpreet Singh had bought chain and lock two days before the murder
New Delhi. Gurpreet Singh, arrested in the Swiss woman’s murder case, had bought chains and locks two days before her murder. Delhi Police sources said the accused took Gurpreet Singh to various places, including the shop where he had bought the chain and locks for more than Rs 600, to know the entire crime sequence and collect more evidence. The accused is a resident of Janakpuri in West Delhi. The body of Swiss woman Lena Berger was found near a school in West Delhi on October 20. Gurpreet Singh, 33, was repeatedly changing his statement during initial interrogation and police arrested him in connection with the crime. The police have also recovered some documents including the passport and visa of the deceased woman from the possession of the accused. According to the inquiry, Gurpreet Singh had met Lina Berger during his visit to Switzerland in 2021 and their friendship turned into a close relationship. To be closer to Lena Berger, Singh frequently traveled to Switzerland. However, as time passed, Gurpreet Singh wanted to marry her, but she rejected his proposal. Berger had reached Delhi from Zurich (Switzerland) on October 11 and stayed in a hotel.
