Punjab: 5 Punsup officers suspended for making fake bills

Punjab: The state government has suspended five officials of the Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (PUNSUP) in Bathinda and Mansa for allegedly preparing fake bills for payment of warehouse rent and embezzling the funds. According to sources, money was withdrawn from the department’s accounts multiple times.
A departmental inquiry revealed that the officials also made fake entries for storage of paddy, even though no stock was ever stored in the warehouses. The fake bills did not mention the warehouse’s name, while the payments were made by senior officials. The alleged mastermind of this scam has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, Senior Assistant (Accounts) posted in Mansa.
