7.5% reservation has nothing to do with DMK: Edappadi Palaniswami
Tamil Nadu: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has stated that the DMK has nothing to do with the 7.5 percent internal reservation for government school students in medical studies.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said: At a function in Nungambakkam, Chennai, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin misrepresented the DMK’s 7.5 percent internal reservation policy under pressure.
To fulfill the medical dreams of poor and middle-class students studying in government schools, when neither students, parents, nor opposition parties demanded it, I exercised my constitutional authority to implement this plan, which I had conceived because the Governor’s approval was delayed. I became the first state in the country to implement the 7.5 percent internal reservation and issued a government order.
We could go on and on about the AIADMK’s successes, such as MGR’s ‘Nutrition Scheme,’ Jayalalithaa’s ‘Cradle Child Scheme,’ and my government’s ‘7.5 percent internal reservation.’
When I was Chief Minister, we implemented a scheme to provide breakfast in Chennai Corporation schools with private participation. Chief Minister Stalin is presenting this scheme as if he just launched it.
Having made Tamil Nadu the largest borrower in the country and taking no steps to increase its funds, Chief Minister Stalin thinks he can deceive the people by laying foundation stones, seeking contracts, and soliciting advertisements, using public tax money to fund numerous projects over the past three months. Edappadi K. Palaniswami has said that the people of Tamil Nadu will not listen to him.
