Major political shifts for the TDP in Tamil Nadu; several leaders from the AIADMK and other parties have joined the fold.

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: A big development was seen in politics on Saturday, when former AIADMK minister K.D. Pachaimal, former MLA Vijaydharini and several other former MPs and MLAs joined the Tamil Nadu Democratic Progressive Party (TDP). This development is being seen as changing political equations in the state.

On Saturday, a special program was organized at the TDP party headquarters in Panayur, Chennai, in which leaders from various political parties formally assumed membership of the TDP. In this program, TDP General Secretary and Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand was also present. In his presence former AIADMK minister K.D. Along with Pachaimal, former MP N. Balaganga, who has also been AIADMK’s North Chennai South district secretary, and A. Ilavarasan, who was the AIADMK Policy Outreach General Secretary, also joined the TDP. Apart from this, T. Vanaroja also joined the party and expressed support.

On this occasion, many leaders from other parties also joined TDP. Among them, former MLA S. Ravi (AIADMK), S. Murugesan (DMK) and former Tirunelveli mayor E. Bhuvaneshwari (AIADMK) were prominent figures. With these leaders joining TDP together, it is expected that the organizational expansion of the party will be strengthened.

The political journey of former MLA Vijaydharini was also a topic of discussion in this incident. Vijaydharini, who was a Congress MLA from Vilavancode assembly constituency of Kanyakumari district, had resigned from the post of MLA in the year 2024 and joined BJP. She later contested the 2026 assembly elections from Vilavancode seat on BJP ticket, but faced defeat and stood third.

After the election results, Vijaydharini decided to leave BJP and later joined ‘Thaweka’ party. Now his joining TDP has become a new topic of discussion in political circles. His move is being seen as a sign of possible change in the politics of South Tamil Nadu.

According to political experts, in recent times the inclination of leaders of various parties towards TDP has increased in Tamil Nadu. The party leadership claims that many more leaders may join TDP in the coming times, which will strengthen the party’s roots in the state.

This entire development is being seen as a sign of the changing political situation of Tamil Nadu and emerging new alliances. The coming months may see even bigger changes in the state’s politics, as competition among different parties for leadership and support base is intensifying.
