Delhi Assembly receives bomb threat email; 16 kg RDX IEDs reportedly planted

Delhi Assembly has once again received a bomb threat email. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta received an email on Wednesday stating that 16 kg of RDX IEDs have been planted in the Delhi Assembly and that they will be detonated at 01.40 pm. The Speaker’s OSD informed the police and higher authorities about this. The police and security personnel were alerted after his complaint.

Delhi Police, dog squad, bomb squad, disposable teams and other security personnel reached the assembly premises and took strict security measures. They checked the entire premises. They searched every corner, plants and small pots. Officials said that they are taking appropriate measures for the protection of public representatives, media and visitors coming to the assembly. They are on high alert in the wake of the claim that there is 16 kg of RDX. However, this is not the first time that the Delhi Assembly has received a bomb threat. A similar threat mail was received on Tuesday. That too was addressed to Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.

Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and other prominent figures have received death threats in the mail. Due to this, checks were also conducted on Tuesday and tight security was arranged. Security has been tightened further in the wake of the series of threats. The budget session is currently underway in the Delhi Assembly. It is noteworthy that despite the threat mails, the sessions are continuing uninterrupted.
