Protests in Tamil Nadu against rising commercial cylinder prices

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary M. Veerapandian has announced a massive protest on Thursday, June 4, against the rising prices of commercial cylinders. The party has said that the increased prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas are burdening small businesses and restaurant operators.
The statement issued by Avar said that due to the continuous attacks by America and Israel on Iran, tension has increased in West Asian countries. Taking advantage of this situation, the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have been increased in India. In Chennai, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder has been increased by Rs 46 to Rs 3,283. Due to this, it has become difficult to operate restaurants and other commercial places.
Not only cylinders, but the prices of food items have also increased. The price of tea has increased by 50 percent, while the prices of other food items have also increased. This has made it challenging for small and medium business establishments to operate.
M. Veerapandian blamed the economic policies of the Central Government and said that this increase is the result of the wrong economic policy of the Centre. He said that the BJP government should take responsibility for this entire situation and immediately withdraw the increased prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas for commercial use.
Commissioner level officers and local administration have also been instructed to remain alert to maintain security and order during this demonstration. The party says that local business organizations and citizens will take part in the protest in all the district capitals of Tamil Nadu.
Veerapandian said, “Our demand is that the central government should immediately reduce the prices of commercial cylinders and reduce the increased financial burden on traders and the general public. This step is necessary for both trade and economic stability.” He also informed that the protest will be carried out peacefully and is being organized only for the purpose of sending a message to the government.
Through this protest, CPI is trying to put pressure on the central government by uniting the people and business organizations of Tamil Nadu. He said that if the government did not take any immediate action, there would be agitation on a larger scale in the future.
Financial experts say that the continuous increase in prices is increasing the costs of small businesses and is adversely affecting their operations. Its impact is most visible especially on restaurants and small food stalls.
The CPI-led protest aims to remind both the public and the government of the economic hardships common people and traders are facing due to rising prices.
