19 Students Of A Government School Hospitalized After Taking Excessive Dose Of Iron Tablets In Maharastra

Chandrapur: 19 students fell ill in a Zilla Parishad school in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The students fell seriously ill after taking high doses of iron tablets. The students were admitted to the hospital. The incident took place in Bhandeli village of Bhadratavati tehsil. An investigation has been launched into the students’ illness.

Iron tablets are given to school students every Monday. However, officials said that some school students took more iron tablets on Tuesday as well. The students took the tablets when the teachers were not around. Due to the high dose, the students fell ill on Wednesday night.

The school management called in ambulances and shifted the students to Chandrapur District Hospital. According to doctors, the health of 16 students is stable. Three others are under observation. The Zilla Parishad CEO has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
