IED blast during anti-Maoist operation in Sundargarh: Injured CRPF Jawan succumb to injuries

Rourkela: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, who had sustained critical injuries following a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Sundargarh district, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital today.

The CRPF jawan who sacrificed life in the line of duty has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Satyaban Kumar Singh of the CRPF’s 134th Battalion. He is resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Along with his Battalion, Singh had gone in an anti-Maoist operation in the Kuari hill area under K. Balang police station of Sundergarh district early this morning. However, a powerful improvised IED, which is suspected to have been planted by the Maoists, exploded near the Banko stone quarry in the hill.

Singh was critically injured following the IED blast. Soon, he was evacuated to a private hospital in Rourkela, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment today.

Meanwhile, the CRPF India took to its social media handle (X) and saluted Singh’s sacrifices saying that the CRPF salutes the indomitable courage, valour, and dedication to the motherland of our braveheart.
