AIADMK-BJP Seat-Sharing Talks: Piyush Goyal Arrives in Tamil Nadu Today

Tamil Nadu: Reports suggest that Union Minister and the BJP’s election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, will arrive in Chennai on Thursday (March 19) to hold discussions regarding seat-sharing with the AIADMK.
In Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprises parties such as the BJP, PMK, AMMK, and IJK. As the elections draw near, negotiations regarding seat-sharing within the National Democratic Alliance have not yet commenced. Against this backdrop, it is expected that Union Minister and the BJP’s election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, will arrive in Chennai from Delhi on Thursday (March 19) to conduct talks concerning seat allocation.
A BJP source stated: “In the DMK alliance, the Congress party has been allotted 28 seats. The BJP leadership plans to secure a higher number of seats from the AIADMK—within the National Democratic Alliance—than the number of seats won by the Congress. The state leadership intends to secure a total of 50 seats collectively for the AMMK, IJK, and various smaller parties allied with us. Of these, the party management aims for the BJP to contest at least 30 to 35 seats. Specifically, there are plans to demand seats such as Velachery, Thyagaraya Nagar, and Mylapore in Chennai, as well as certain constituencies in the western region. He added that the seat-sharing arrangement would be finalized following the negotiations led by Piyush Goyal.”
