5.73 crore voters in Tamil Nadu: 6.35 lakh new voters
Tamil Nadu: The consolidated voter list for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections was released on Tuesday. 635,911 new voters were included. This increased the number of voters in Tamil Nadu to 57,343,291. Based on this, voter information slips (booth slips) will be printed and distributed door-to-door by polling station officials.
The Election Commission conducted a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter rolls before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. In November last year, counting forms were distributed door-to-door, and the details of 64.1 million voters were verified.
Following this, 9,737,831 names were removed from the draft voter list published on December 19 last year.
After the re-run, the final voter list was released, which included 56.7 million people.
Meanwhile, it was announced that applications for inclusion in the voter list could be made even after the election dates were announced. The deadline for this was set for the 26th of last month. During that time, 648,285 people applied by submitting Form 6. Of these, the names of 635,911 people have now been included in the supplementary voter list.
In addition, the new consolidated voter list for the assembly elections was released on Tuesday. It includes a total of 57.3 million voters.
