Farmers Protest at Munugodu Over Delay in Grain Purchase, Citing Moisture Issues

Munugodu, April 16: Farmers who have been waiting for the grain to be brought to the purchase centers for a month now are demanding that the authorities should not trouble them in the name of “talu” and “tema”. On Thursday, a protest was held at the local Ambedkar intersection in the Munugodu mandal center. Speaking on the occasion, CPI Nallagonda district executive member Guraja Ramachandram demanded that the officials who are bothering the farmers by not purchasing the grain for months be suspended. Farmers should buy the grain brought to the purchase centers at the government support price without any charges.
He said that it is not right to cause many problems if the farmers work hard and bring them to the market. He said that it is not right for the millers and officials to refuse to purchase the farmers’ grain in the name of the presence of the millers and the farmers. He said on this occasion that if the purchase of grain is not started immediately and justice is not done to the farmers, then they will go on a large-scale agitation. The local police were deployed in large numbers during the Rastaroko, and the local tahsildar, upon learning about the matter, assured that justice will be done to the farmers and the purchase will be expedited. When the leaders of the CPI Farmers’ Association sat down in a daze, the police forcibly removed them.
CPI district executive members Boluguri Narasimha, Tirpari Venkateswarlu, Mandal Secretary Chapala Srinivas, District Council member Surigi Chalapathi, former ZPTC Goskonda Lingaiah, Mandal executive members Bandameedi Yadayiah, Amdali Pandu, Eedulakanti Kailas, Kagiga Venkanna, Dubba Venkanna, Kurumarthi Muthaiah, Tirpara Krishnaiah, Katkuri Lingaswamy, Chiragoni Shankar, and Narasimha participated in this program.
