Karnataka police will arrive in Kerala in connection with the investigation into C J Roy’s death

KOCHI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Police, which is investigating the suicide of Confident Group Chairman C.J. Roy, will arrive in Kerala. The team will reach Kochi to collect evidence and investigate the Confident Group’s transactions in Kerala. Immediately after the Income Tax department raid, the SIT received information that Roy was undergoing treatment for depression at a well-known hospital in Jayanagar 8th Block, Bengaluru.
Besides the financial transactions and the reasons for the Income Tax raid, the reasons for his depression treatment are also being investigated. His family informed the investigation team that Roy had been undergoing treatment for depression for more than four months.
In the last few days, some of the Confident Group’s projects had faced setbacks. Some investors in these projects were also continuously demanding their money back, which had put Roy in a difficult situation. He had repeatedly stated that the projects were being implemented without taking any loans. He was not in the habit of taking loans from banks. The SIT will also investigate how Roy raised funds for large projects without taking any loans.
Meanwhile, Confident Group MD T.A. Joseph said that Roy’s death would not affect future operations and that investors need not worry. He clarified that Roy was only handling matters in Bengaluru and that he (Joseph) was responsible for all the projects in Kerala.
“We do not have anyone’s black money. No central investigating agency is after the Confident Group. Some people are spreading false stories. Roy is being harassed even after his death. I will be at the office in Kochi from tomorrow,” Joseph said.
