Announcement to give big opportunity to Polytechnic Diploma students, special opportunity for arrear examination

Tamil Nadu: The Higher Education Department has announced a significant decision for students who have completed their diploma courses at polytechnic colleges. Under this initiative, students with pending subjects (arrears) will be granted another special opportunity to take the exams. This decision is expected to bring relief to thousands of students who have long been waiting to clear their outstanding papers.

According to the government order issued by Higher Education Secretary Arun Roy, students who completed their polytechnic engineering diploma courses but failed in certain subjects have previously been granted special opportunities on several occasions. These include exams held in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025, where students were given the chance to clear their arrears.

However, despite these special opportunities, many students have still not managed to clear their pending subjects. These students have now requested the government to grant them one more chance so they can complete their diplomas and secure better employment opportunities. The students state that their careers are being adversely affected by their inability to pass these exams over such a long period.

In light of this situation, the Chairman of the Board of Technical Examinations has requested the state government to provide one more special opportunity to approximately 2,000 such students. The proposal suggests allowing these students to appear for the semester examinations scheduled for October 2026 and April 2027.

Additionally, the Board has suggested fixing an appropriate examination fee for these special exams to ensure the process is conducted systematically. A formal order from the government has been requested in this regard.

This move by the Higher Education Department is being viewed as a positive initiative in the interest of the students. It will provide a renewed opportunity for those who were previously unsuccessful—for various reasons—to complete their studies and obtain their diplomas. Education experts believe that this decision comes as a relief to students pursuing technical education and will also have a positive impact on their future employment prospects. All eyes are now on the government’s final decision regarding this proposal, which is expected to be announced soon.
