SIR’s work should be stopped: Thol Thirumavalavan

Tamil Nadu: VKC leader Thol Thirumavalavan insisted that the Election Commission should stop the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
On Monday, a protest was held by VVIPs near the Egmore Rajarathnam Ground in Chennai demanding a halt to the SIR work. Leading the protest, Thol Thirumavalavan said: “Anyone can vote only if their name is on the voter list. However, there is a risk that the SIR work will lead to the removal of millions of voters in Tamil Nadu from the list. Therefore, the right to vote must be protected.” Despite opposition to the SIR work, the BJP government at the Centre has pressured political parties to carry it out.
The BJP government at the Centre is trying to enforce its will by keeping the Election Commission and other institutions under its control. He said that in future BJP’s plan is to weaken the opposition parties, make India without Congress party and create a situation where no party can talk about Left and Dravidian politics.
