Anbumani questions the decision of MLAs who resigned from AIADMK and joined TDP

Tamil Nadu: PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has raised serious questions about the recent political decision of three MLAs. He stated that if Chief Minister Joseph Vijay is practicing good politics, then these three MLAs, who resigned from the AIADMK and joined the TDP, should not be given the opportunity to contest the by-elections. According to him, this move is subject to scrutiny from both the perspectives of democratic process and political ethics.
In a statement issued on Monday, Anbumani said that the resignation of three AIADMK MLAs just 20 days after the assembly election results was announced raises many questions. He questioned the need for such hasty resignations and the true political motive behind them. According to him, such decisions are directly linked to the public mandate and warrant serious discussion.
Anbumani alleged that the desire for power could be the primary reason behind these MLAs’ actions. He said that if the pursuit of power becomes more important in politics than ideology and public interest, it is not a good sign for democratic values. He says such incidents can undermine public trust.
He also stated that the three MLAs who joined the TDP cannot be considered without political expectations. According to him, these MLAs could have decided to change parties only after considering the potential by-elections in their constituencies. Anbumani claims that the political benefits of contesting and winning the by-elections and becoming part of the ruling party could also be a factor in this decision.
This entire issue has sparked heated debate within political circles. Some analysts believe that the MLAs’ defection immediately after an election increases political instability and impacts the public’s sense of mandate. At the same time, others consider it a personal political decision, which could be part of the MLAs’ strategy.
The decision of these MLAs to resign from the AIADMK and join the TDP has sparked a new debate in state politics. Opposition parties say the Election Commission and related institutions should establish clear rules regarding such incidents to control defections that occur immediately after election results.
On the other hand, the ruling party has not yet issued a detailed response on this issue, but political experts believe the matter could escalate further in the coming days. The situation regarding the possibility of by-elections and the future of the MLAs remains unclear.
This entire incident has sparked a new debate in state politics, with issues such as mandate, political ethics, and power politics once again taking center stage.
