We will resolve the Gorkha issue within a year: Amit Shah in Bengal

Kurseong: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that if his party comes to power in West Bengal, the decades-old Gurkha issue will be resolved within six months. He said that the BJP alone cannot resolve the Gurkha issue and no other party has resolved the issue. Minister Shah was speaking at an election rally in Kurseong in Darjeeling district. Amit Shah said that only the BJP can understand the feelings and concerns of the Gurkhas and that the issue can be resolved in a way that suits them.
He said that within a few years of the formation of his government, one can see the happiness on the faces of the Gorkhas. He said that he will find a solution to the Gorkha problem and the Gorkhas can live peacefully. The Gorkhas live mostly in the hilly areas of North Bengal. However, the community has been fighting for decades to resolve their problems.
Union Minister Amit Shah did not directly mention Gorkhaland or a separate state anywhere in his speech. But the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat is currently held by the BJP. The party has been winning there since 2009.
