Tamil Nadu: Emphasis on service spirit in temple administration, instructions to all officers and employees

Tamil Nadu: In Chennai, Hindu Religious Endowments Department Minister C. Ramesh advised department officials and temple employees to work with a spirit of service. He stated that everyone, from senior officials to temple staff, should perform their duties with devotion and dedication, ensuring better facilities for devotees and transparent governance of religious institutions.

The review meeting was held at the commission’s office in Nungambakkam on Friday. The minister comprehensively reviewed various projects and activities under the Hindu Religious Endowments Department. The meeting discussed temple renovations, improvements to facilities for devotees, the process of preparing a master plan, and departmental welfare schemes.

Minister C. Ramesh told officials that the state government’s objective is to establish a strong, trustworthy, and transparent administration, which everyone must work towards. He emphasized that those working at all levels of the department should work with a spirit of service to preserve the traditions and cultural heritage of temples.

During the meeting, he also directed that all development works being undertaken by the department be regularly reviewed. He stated that such review meetings would be held periodically in the future to continuously monitor the progress of projects and to address any shortcomings promptly.

The Minister also advised officials to maintain complete transparency and dedication in their work, ensuring no inconvenience to the public and devotees. He stated that the satisfaction of devotees visiting temples should be the department’s greatest success.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on making departmental schemes more effective, strengthening employee welfare programs, and improving temple maintenance with modern methods. The Minister urged officials to complete all projects in a timely manner and pay special attention to quality.

He also stated that the state government is committed to the development and preservation of religious institutions, and cooperation at all levels is essential. The Minister expressed hope that all officers and employees will work together to establish the department as an ideal administrative unit.

At the end of the meeting, he directed the officials to perform their duties with utmost devotion and ensure that all the services related to the temples reach the devotees smoothly.
