Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain likely in 4 districts today

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has reported that heavy rainfall is likely in the Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday (February 23).
Depression: A low pressure area (cyclonic circulation) formed over the equatorial Indian Ocean and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday. It is expected to move west-northwestward and intensify into a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean.
Due to this, isolated moderate rainfall is likely over South Tamil Nadu, North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Additionally, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts.
Also, isolated light rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from February 23 to 25. On Sunday (February 22), the sky will be partly cloudy over Chennai and Puducherry.
Fishermen warning: Meanwhile, winds of up to 60 kmph are expected in the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining south Tamil Nadu coasts, the Kumari Sagar, and the Bay of Bengal on February 22. Therefore, fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas for fishing, according to a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department.
