Tamil Nadu Police registers dowry harassment case against PMK MLA
Chennai (IANS). Tamil Nadu’s Salem police arrested Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Mettur MLA S. A case of dowry harassment has been registered against Sathasivam.
Police said the case was registered on the complaint of 24-year-old M. Manoliya, wife of Sadhasivam’s son Shankar.
Manoliya, in her complaint lodged on August 19, said her family had gifted 200 pieces of jewellery, a car worth Rs 25 lakh and Rs 20 lakh in cash as dowry.
Manoliya told that after marriage she came to know that her husband Shankar had relations with other women.
It is also stated that her husband’s family harassed her and threatened her with dire consequences if her family did not give them more dowry.
The Suramangalam police in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district have registered a case against Sathasivam, his wife Baby, their son Shankar and their daughter Kalaivani.
The police have also sent a report to the Tamil Nadu Speaker’s office as a case has been registered against an MLA.
