Tamil Nadu: Rain in 10 districts for the next 2 hours

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has reported that the weather in several districts of Tamil Nadu may change over the next few hours, with rain expected. According to the department, light to moderate rain is expected in 10 districts of the state in the next two hours, until around 10 am. These districts include the Nilgiris, Kanyakumari, Tiruvannamalai, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Ranipet, Thanjavur, and Trichy. Light rain is also expected in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts, which could lead to pleasant weather in some areas.
The Meteorological Department stated that various weather systems are currently active in many parts of the country, and their impact is also being felt in the weather of South India. A low-pressure area is persisting from West Madhya Pradesh to South Interior Karnataka, covering Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and North Interior Karnataka. Additionally, an atmospheric circulation is active over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas, increasing humidity and cloudiness.
Similarly, another circulation system has developed in the upper atmospheric levels from the southeast Arabian Sea over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, affecting Kerala, south interior Karnataka, and the Rayalaseema region. The combined effect of these weather conditions is creating conditions for cloud formation and rainfall in many parts of South India.
The Meteorological Department predicts that from Tuesday (May 19) to May 24, isolated light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may occur in districts along the Western Ghats and some areas of northern Tamil Nadu. Rainfall intensity may be slightly higher in some places, but it is likely to remain light to moderate in most areas.
The department also stated that these weather systems are increasing humidity, leading to a slight drop in daytime temperatures and a change in humidity. The weather may change significantly, particularly in coastal and mountainous areas. Lower areas may experience cloudy skies and occasional drizzle.
Local authorities and residents have been advised to remain vigilant regarding weather conditions, especially in areas where thunderstorms and rain are likely. It is also advised to pay attention to weather updates during travel and outdoor activities.
Thus, many parts of South India will experience the effects of changing weather over the next few days, with cloud movement and intermittent rain being the most prominent.
