Tamil Nadu’s fertility rate declined from 2.1 percent to 1.4 percent
Chennai: Health Minister Ma Subramaniam on Monday said Tamil Nadu’s fertility rate has declined from 2.1 per cent to 1.4 per cent and the state’s population is under control. He further said that this rate is expected to decrease further in the next census.
“In the last two years, more than 6 lakh women and 2,500 men in the state have undertaken permanent family planning, and more than 1.67 lakh women have taken contraceptive injections. As the fertility rate declined, this led to population control in Tamil Nadu Subramanian said, “It has been observed that due to proper treatment provided to the patients, there has been a huge reduction in premature births and other complications among newborns in the state.”
Talking about the health conditions of Minister Senthilbalaji, who was admitted to Omandurar Hospital for treatment, Subramaniam said the MRI scan revealed lipomas in the kidneys and several tests had been conducted. The hospital will provide details by Tuesday and treatment will be given accordingly.
Similarly, DMDK president Vijayakanth is admitted to a private hospital in the city due to throat infection. The minister said that he is in ICU and is in good and stable condition.
Meanwhile, former health minister C Vijayabaskar told reporters that influenza cases were continuously increasing and there were not enough bed facilities in government and private hospitals in the state.
In response, Ma Subramaniam informed, “At least 45 influenza cases are reported daily in Tamil Nadu and more than one lakh beds are available across the state. In the last 2.5 years, we have set up more than 75,000 beds in health centers “
