Taranjit Singh Sandhu sworn in as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi

Taranjit Singh Sandhu was sworn in as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on Wednesday. He became the second Sikh to hold the post after Arjan Singh, who assumed the position in 1989.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Lok Niwas, where Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay administered the oath of office and formally appointed Sandhu as the Lieutenant Governor of the national capital.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, members of the Delhi Cabinet, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, and several other prominent MLAs. From a family of reformists and academics
Sandhu, 63, comes from a well-known family of reformists and academics. Born in Amritsar in 1963, he is the grandson of Teja Singh Samundri, a prominent figure in the Gurdwara reform movement of the early 20th century, which transformed the management of Sikh religious institutions. In recognition of his contributions, the main hall of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Amritsar has been named Teja Singh Samundri Hall.

Outgoing Lieutenant Governor Saxena to take charge in Ladakh
Meanwhile, outgoing Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and is expected to take charge on Friday.
